Team effort

To be able to organise a global sporting event like a cycling world championship - what a privilege! It's like a cycling classic: with flat sections to roll through, rough climbs and a finish in the last few metres where we give it our all once again. As representatives and experts from politics, sports associations, authorities, administration and event organisations, we are like a well-tuned racing team. We ride in a pack, take turns upfront again and again, and bring Zurich 2024 to the finish line successfully together.

Our vision and mission

The 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich will be an unforgettable sporting happening that sets standards in social integration and equality, increases the popularity of cycling as a sustainable means of sport and transport, and promotes Zurich as an attractive cycling region.

With passion, competence and combined forces, we – the Canton and City of Zurich, Swiss Cycling, the population and the economy – are creating a major international sporting event that inspires, brings cycling to the people, makes para-cycling better known, promotes inclusion and establishes Zurich as a welcoming ambassador for cycling in everyday life.

Who organizes it?

The UCI is the owner of all official cycling world championships. At the 2018 Congress in Innsbruck, it entrusted its member federation, Swiss Cycling, with the organisation of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships.

Swiss Cycling leads, organises and represents Swiss cycling from the grassroots to the top of the world elite. The national federation sees itself as a hub as well as a competence centre for domestic cycling in the areas of competitive sport, mass sport, leisure and mobility.

In 2018, the city and canton of Zurich jointly applied to Swiss Cycling to host the 2024 World Cycling and Para-cycling Road Championships and were awarded the event by Swiss Cycling on 13 March 2019.

Verein Rad- und Para-Cycling-WM 2024
