Chicco d’Oro, the well-known Swiss coffee brand, will be part of the Zurich 2024 family. As Official Coffee Supplier, the traditional company, founded in 1949, will provide fans, media representatives and other visitors with its tasty coffee products.

Cycling and coffee are closely linked. After all, cycling fans are (almost) always coffee fans too and love being able to enjoy this drink at events.

Chicco d’Oro will be selling its products at numerous locations at the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich this coming September. For example, in the food court on Sechseläutenplatz, which will be set up in the Zurich Film Festival Dome, and at up to eight sales trolleys in the Sechseläutenplatz, Bürkliplatz and General-Guisan-Quai fan zones. The coffee will be served in the VIP area of the UCI Lounge, while journalists in the media centre in the Kongresshaus will get a boost from the coffee partner’s energising drinks.

Flexible offer – cold or warm depending on the weather

Chicco d’Oro will be gearing its range to the weather during the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships. Like the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024, the coffee manufacturer is naturally hoping for a pleasant, sunny and warm late summer. Cold coffee beverages will be available for this weather situation. Of course, there will also be hot coffee in various flavours and coffee shots.

Active in sports promotion for a long time

Vittorio Maspoli, Sales Manager at Chicco d’Oro, emphasises his company’s long-standing commitment to promoting sport. “Chicco d’Oro is active in both youth and professional sport. In the field of cycling, we are present at various events, including the Tour de Suisse since 2018. We are delighted to be able to support the Local Organising Committee of these unique UCI World Championships in 2024 and would like to thank them for their cooperation.”

“Coffee is a must at a cycling race,” says Gabriela Buchs, co-project manager for the supporting events of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships. “We are delighted to have found the ideal partner in Chicco d’Oro, who will spoil VIPs, journalists and fans alike with their coffee specialities. Chicco d’Oro, whom we would like to thank for their trust, is the perfect addition to our existing beverage partners to offer a versatile portfolio.”

Remo Forrer, who has caused a furore in Switzerland and internationally with his song “Watergun”, will perform at the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland. The Swiss singer completes the line-up of local music stars who will be entertaining fans with their concerts on Sechseläutenplatz during the global cycling event.

At the age of 22, Remo Forrer is already considered an exceptional talent. He won “The Voice of Switzerland”, “The Masked Singer Switzerland” and represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC) in 2023. His hit “Watergun” has been streamed over 20 million times on Spotify.

“Last year was an incredibly emotional journey for me. After the ESC, I suddenly felt like I was recognised by the whole world,” says the young singer, who also performed at this year’s Art on Ice shows in several Swiss cities. “After these experiences, I had to find my place again with songwriting and composing. I’m therefore really looking forward to my performance at the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships on 24 September so that I can share my songs with spectators from Switzerland and all over the world.”

With the EP “Favorite Kind Of Lonely”, the singer-songwriter unveiled his moving journey through the past year at the end of May 2024. The songs on the EP revolve around problems and hardships in love and friendship, personal experiences with bullying – and the first encounter with the death of a loved one.

“Remo Forrer is a singer whose musical journey has only just begun. The Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024 is very happy to be able to present him as another top act on our programme,” says Gabriela Buchs, co-project manager of the supporting events surrounding the first inclusive UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships.

Award ceremonies, concerts and talks on Sechseläutenplatz

A varied supporting programme awaits the fans in addition to the finishes. On the big stage, the all the UCI World Champions for road and para-cycling road will be honoured and celebrated with gold medals and rainbow jerseys. In addition to Remo Forrer, the Zurich 2024 ambassador Ritschi, singers from the Swiss cult group Plüsch, Tabula Musica and Crimer will entertain the audiences. Moreover, the race broadcasts on the big screen, exciting talks and other events and cycling shows will provide variety.

The vehicle fleet for the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships is now complete: hostettler ag, general importer for Yamaha motorbikes and scooters in Switzerland, is supporting the global cycling event next September as Official Motorbike Supplier.

As part of the cooperation, hostettler ag is providing a total of 44 Yamaha motorbikes for three weeks. With this commitment in the area of vehicles required for the various needs of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich, the Sursee-based family business joins the Emil Frey Group with its Kia brand and the logistics company Planzer, thus covering the final part of the demand for support and transport vehicles.

Safety escort for the cyclists

During the time trials, all participants are individually accompanied by a motorbike. This safety service guarantees that the racers can ride the course without any obstacles. In the road races, the motorbikes and their riders act as a vanguard to ensure that all obstacles are secured, all crossing points are manned and there are no spectators on the route.

Also used by photographers, doctors and for timekeeping

Commissaires, cameramen, photographers and doctors are also piloted through the races as pillion riders on the motorbikes. Moreover, the motorbikes are used for timekeeping tasks. The motorbike riders are specially trained and educated for the demanding steering of the vehicles in pelotons and other situations.

“The 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich are a fantastic addition to our long-standing commitment to the cycling world,” said Vincent Mentha, Managing Director of the Yamaha Division at hostettler ag. “Once again, we can make a significant contribution to the safe organisation of a global cycling event with our tried-and-tested Yamaha motorbikes.”

Olivier Senn, Deputy Managing Director and Head of Sport of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024, is grateful to have hostettler ag and Yamaha as Official Motorbike Suppliers for the this year’s UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships. “With their experience from over 30 years of cooperation with the Tour de Suisse, they are the ideal partner for the detailed race organisation during these UCI World Championships.”

Manoeuvrability and sporty driving performance as trump cards

The Yamaha support fleet for Zurich 2024 includes TRACER 9 GT and NIKEN GT. The TRACER 9 GT will be used for the first time this year for the security service on cycle tours. It is equipped with a powerful 890 cc CP3 engine, an agile aluminium frame and advanced electronics such as the 6-axis IMU, traction control and cruise control. Its versatility and reliability make it the ideal choice for the demanding tasks of a security escort.

About the hostettler group (https://www.hostettler.com/hostettler-group/unternehmen/)

The hostettler group is one of the economic engines of Central Switzerland. The group’s 13 companies – twelve of which are trading companies – employ over 950 people. Founded in 1906, the hostettler group is active nationally in the motorbike, automotive, consumer electronics and bicycle sectors. Internationally, the group has strengthened its position by acquiring companies in the European bicycle market. The retail group maintains a logistics hub for Europe in southern Germany.

The Group will continue to develop along its core competences: as general importer of the market-leading motorbike brand Yamaha for Switzerland, as importer and manufacturer of its own bicycle brands and as owner of the globally distributed clothing and accessories brand iXS for motorbike and bicycle enthusiasts. The hostettler group also attaches great importance to electromobility thanks to electric bicycles. Yamaha offers various emission-free means of transport such as electric scooters, e-bikes and utility vehicles.

Together with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024, ZVV and VBZ, the canton and city of Zurich have further expanded and specified the plans for traffic organisation during the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich. From 21 to 29 September 2024, more time must be allowed for travel in and around Zurich.

Over 400 meetings, on-site inspections and information events, contacts with over 500 stakeholder groups such as hospitals, neighbourhood and trade associations, associations, companies and individuals: ever since the traffic arrangements for the Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships were announced at the beginning of 2023, the canton and city of Zurich, together with LOC Zürich 2024, ZVV (Zurich Transport Network) and VBZ (Zurich Public Transport), have provided comprehensive information about the traffic organisation during the event and developed solutions. All relevant information can be found on the websites of Zurich 2024, the canton and city of Zurich and public transport (see list of links below). Following the first wave of communication on 18 April 2024, the responsible authorities, companies and organisations have also taken on board various findings and implemented further measures, for example by distributing information material in the most affected areas of the city of Zurich.

Road World Championships in two phases

The Zurich 2024 World Cycling and Para-Cycling Championships will be split into two phases. This will enable uniform traffic organisation. The World Championships will begin on 21 September with the training sessions for the time trials and the mixed handbike team relay as the opening race. The time trials will take place from Sunday, 22 September to Tuesday, 24 September 2024. The road races with mass starts will begin on Wednesday, 25 September 2024, and end with the elite men’s race on Sunday, 29 September 2024. The City Circuit, the circuit that can be ridden several times, will only be in operation during the road races. This is when the traffic restrictions will be at their greatest. In this second phase, the special regulations will apply to the entire Zurich East area. From 25 to 29 September 2025, access to Hottingen, Hirslanden, Weinegg, Mühlebach and Seefeld by car will only be possible via the Forchautostrasse A52 from 5 am to 7 pm. An access permit is required for simplified access (see below).

Diversions

Traffic routes in the city of Zurich East area

Internal traffic between the above-mentioned neighbourhoods is possible at all times within the circuit. In addition, the circular route municipalities of Küsnacht, Maur, Zollikon and Zumikon have published comprehensive additional local information for their municipal areas on their own websites.

Hospitals remain accessible

Access to healthcare facilities remains guaranteed. Emergencies always have priority. The hospitals will continue to operate as normal and keep all affected persons such as employees, patients, visitors and suppliers informed on an ongoing basis.

No 24-hour closures – crossings largely possible

The closure times for the individual race courses and the associated adjustments to the traffic organisation will vary depending on the race day and race programme.

The roads will be open and passable again from 7 p.m. at the latest on all race days.

Crossing the World Championships racecourses is possible on foot or by bike (which must be pushed). Important: As usual, the normal precautionary measures must be observed when crossing roads. In areas of the route that are secured with barriers, crossing is permitted at specially designated points and in accordance with the instructions of the route marshals or security personnel.

Online timetable already partly in World Championships mode

A special timetable will be used for public transport during the World Championships. The timetable for the city for the period from 21 to 29 September 2024 is already available. The timetable for the region will follow in the next few weeks. Overview maps showing diversions and relief routes during the event are available on the ZVV website and at zurich2024.com.

The best connections will be available in real time via the ZVV timetable or the ZVV app. Public transport travellers are strongly recommended to use these sources of information before starting their journey.

Large-scale traffic management

Traffic management for the greater Zurich region will be announced in good time in collaboration with the cantonal civil engineering office. During the World Championships, traffic information will be continuously updated via traffic reports and news reports from radio stations. These will supplement the numerous communication measures already in place, which can be accessed via the canton’s GIS browser, the websites of LOC, the canton, city and municipalities and other platforms. As there will be traffic disruptions due to the closures, it is strongly recommended that you avoid travelling by car if possible.

Further communication waves planned

A third wave of communication will follow after the summer holidays. Before and during the World Cycling and Para-Cycling Championships in September 2024, communication on traffic will be intensified once again.

Zurich Cantonal Bank (Zürcher Kantonalbank, ZKB) will be supporting the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships as Official Partner, underlining its long-standing commitment to sport and health and its solidarity with the Canton of Zurich.

Successful partnerships are based on shared values. Like the Local Organising Committee Zurich 2024 (LOC Zurich 2024) and the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships, Zürcher Kantonalbank stands for sustainability, inclusion and diversity. With this commitment, the bank also supports the canton in addressing economic and social challenges, thereby strengthening the competitiveness of the Zurich economic region.

Universal bank as a partner for a major Zurich event
“Under the motto “All of Zurich is getting on their bikes”, we are participating in the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships as the bank of the people of Zurich and supporting this major sporting event as a unique experience in the canton of Zurich”, Roger Liebi, Vice-Chairman of the ZKB Bank Council, emphasised.

Daniel Rupf, the managing director of LOC Zurich 2024, shares this view: “The 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships are a milestone in terms of inclusive events. ZKB is our ideal partner in the important area of banking, financial services, asset management and pensions. We would like to thank the Bank Council and the entire ZKB team for the trust they have placed in us.”

Cycling feeling in the branches

The ZKB branches in Zurich and Winterthur will soon have a cycling feeling: ZKB will be exhibiting two F5 racing bikes from Official Bike Partner Pinarello and will be giving these bikes away in a raffle to two happy customers after the UCI Road Worlds.

100 days before the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships kick off on 21 September, Zurich is ready for the first fully inclusive and integrative competitions. At a media event at the Sechseläutenplatz finish area, representatives from politics, associations and the Zurich 2024 Local Organising Committee emphasised the enormous appeal of the global cycling event in terms of inclusion, but also for tourism and business. The estimated 850,000 spectators from Switzerland and abroad can look forward to exciting races, an attractive supporting programme, various fan zones and other highlights.

Zurich 2024 will have a major impact on sport and society. “The 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships will be much more than just cycling races – they promote inclusion and togetherness,” said Cantonal Councillor and Sports Minister, Mario Fehr: “Thanks to the varied programme, these UCI Road Championships will be a cycling festival for the people of Zurich throughout the canton.”

These positive aspects were also emphasised by the head of the City of Zurich’s Department of Education and Sport, City Councillor Filippo Leutenegger: “In our everyday lives, we see time and again how powerful and integrative sport can be. The UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in our city will make a great contribution in this respect.”

Quantum leap for parasport

With the UCI World Championships for road and para-cycling road being held together for the first time, all participants will be equally in the spotlight. “As top athletes, non-para athletes and para-cyclists are on an equal footing in terms of performance. Thanks to the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich, the numerous spectators along the racecourses and watching on television will also be able to appreciate this,” emphasised the CEO of PluSport Switzerland, Christof Baer.

Added value thanks to TV coverage and inclusion

“The attractive images from the live broadcasts of the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships will generate a great deal of added value for Zurich,” emphasised Thomas Wüthrich, Director of Zürich Tourism. “This event also promotes barrier-free travel in the long term, as a lot of information on the accessibility of buildings and facilities has been collected.” In addition to accompanying measures, Zürich Tourism also supported the Mapathon initiated by the Sitios association, during which around 35 volunteers used the ginto app to collect accessibility data on buildings in the vicinity of the official zones at the end of May. This data is communicated via various channels and is available free of charge to all participants in and visitors to the global cycling event as well as the population of Zurich. This will also offer added value for guests and the local population beyond the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships.

Supporting programme: medals, music and a mega atmosphere

The centrepiece of the global cycling event is Sechseläutenplatz, whose configuration for the event was presented in a 3D rendering. Here in particular, the various facilities will also be accessible or have elements that make it easier for people with disabilities to experience the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships on site.

A varied supporting programme awaits the fans in addition to the finishes. On the big stage, the 66 UCI World Champions for road and para-cycling road will be honoured and celebrated with gold medals and rainbow jerseys. The Zurich 2024 ambassador Ritschi, singers from the Swiss cult group Plüsch, Tabula Musica and Crimer will entertain the audiences. Sign language interpreters will also be on hand at the Crimer concert on 21 September. Moreover, in July, LOC Zurich 2024 will announce another concert with a well-known Swiss singer.

“These events, as well as the broadcasts of the races on the big screen, exciting talks with various personalities and other cycling entertainment elements will create a great atmosphere,” said Gabriela Buchs, who is co-responsible for the supporting events on behalf of LOC Zurich 2024.

Official cycling jersey from Santini: uniquely designed and sustainably produced

The official cycling jersey for the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships also made its debut at the 100 Days To Go event. UCI Official Partner Santini came up with a unique idea: The designers of the Italian cycling clothing company recreated the traditional UCI rainbow with the icons of Zurich 2024, which represent well-known symbols from cycling and landmarks of the host region Zurich. The unisex event jersey is also sustainable, as it is made from 50% recycled fibres. The complete UCI World Championships merchandising collection from Santini can be ordered online from the end of June via the zurich2024.com website and purchased locally at various merchandising points of sale.

The Emil Frey Group will be the Official Car Partner of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich, with the car brand Kia, which it distributes in Switzerland. The cooperation with the traditional Swiss company, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2024 and has an impressive historical connection to the bicycle, also includes electric cars.

The support teams for the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich will be travelling in cars manufactured by the South Korean brand Kia. The Emil Frey Group, which represents Kia in Switzerland as the official importer, and the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024 have agreed on a comprehensive partnership for this purpose.

Over 150 vehicles in use for 9 days – one third electric cars

The fleet provided by the Emil Frey Group for the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich will comprise over 150 cars. Various models will be used, including 80 Kia Sportage and 55 Kia EV6 and Kia EV9 electric vehicles, which corresponds to a third of the support vehicles used. LOC Zurich 2024 is thus exceeding its self-imposed sustainability target of 25% electric vehicles in the UCI World Championships fleet. The cooperation also includes various cars and commercial vehicles provided by Hertz Switzerland, a franchise company within the Emil Frey Group.

Lorenz Frey-Hilti, member of the Emil Frey Group Executive Board, welcomed the intensive collaboration with LOC Zurich 2024 in the coming weeks. “My grandfather opened a bicycle and motorbike workshop in Zurich as a mechanic on 1 October 1924. 100 years later, we are delighted to be able to support the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich with individual mobility. The presence that we are receiving as part of this co-operation ideally complements our anniversary activities to mark 100 years of Emil Frey. Our family-owned company is looking forward to impressive sport from the world’s best cyclists, who will be accompanied by Kia vehicles with the latest technology against the backdrop of the host region of Zurich.”

“The Official Car Partner is a very important cooperation for a UCI World Championships. It ensures a diverse fleet customised for the races with professional drivers at the wheel. We are delighted to be able to count on Emil Frey, a company that is Zurich-based and steeped in tradition, for this essential element of our major event. We would like to thank Mr Walter Frey, Lorenz Frey-Hilti and the participating companies of the Emil Frey Group for their great commitment,” said Ina Bauspiess, Head of Sponsoring, and Daniel Rupf, Managing Director, on behalf of the entire LOC Zurich 2024.

What almost nobody knows: Emil Frey and the bicycle have a historical connection. Emil Frey began his impressive career as a bicycle mechanic in what is now the building of the Neue Zürcher Zeitung on Sechseläutenplatz.

On 1 October 1924, Emil Frey opened his first own workshop at Schwingerstrasse 3 in Zurich. During the Second World War, he adapted to the new circumstances. He manufactured bicycles and electrically powered radiators himself and sold them successfully.

As coincidence would have it, Emil Frey’s first place of work in Zurich is located directly in the main fan zone of the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships. A “Recognition Spot” will draw visitors’ attention to the little-known connection between the automobile company and the bicycle, which helped the entrepreneur and mechanic Emil Frey overcome difficult times and ensured the successful development of the company into what it is today.

About the Emil Frey Group (https://www.emilfrey.ch/)

The Emil Frey Group is a family business with a long tradition. Emil Frey opened his first workshop in Zurich in 1924. With diligence and skill, the trained mechanic quickly earned a first-class reputation – as a specialist with prompt and conscientious service. He also broke new ground: The young garage owner successfully competed in motorbike races, not only because of his sporting spirit, but also to prove the quality of his products.

In 1969, Emil Frey officially handed over the management of the company to his son Walter. On this solid basis, Walter Frey continues to expand in Switzerland and in several European countries to this day. Despite its internationalisation, the Emil Frey Group has remained a classic family business, in which the principles of the founder are still anchored in the culture. With over 25,000 employees and almost 2,000 apprentices, the company imports and distributes numerous renowned car brands. The group also includes various mobility-related service companies.

The Swiss family business Planzer will support the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich as Official Supplier Logistics. The company will provide transport vehicles, drivers and storage space for the global cycling festival next September and serve as a hub for material logistics.

With just about three months to go until the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, logistical matters are increasingly coming to the fore for the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024. On the one hand, the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) will bring special facilities and equipment to Zurich for the organisation of the competitions. On the other hand, LOC Zurich 2024 will also have large quantities of materials produced, which will have to be stored centrally and transported to the start locations of Zurich, Uster, Gossau and Winterthur shortly before the UCI Road World Championships, which start on 21 September.

In the right place at the right time

To ensure the complex logistical planning and coordination, LOC Zurich 2024 can count on the expertise and experience of Planzer. As Official Supplier Logistics, the third-generation family-run company will ensure the storage and timely delivery of the materials. Planzer will provide various delivery vehicles, including drivers, to handle the complex preparation and set-up work for the UCI Worlds. These include the familiar beige parcel delivery vehicles with the curved red Planzer logo as well as large lorries. Planzer supports the goals of the Zurich 2024 sustainability charter and will also be using electric lorries. In addition, to increase the new partner’s integration into the event, a Planzer vehicle will be the traditional “broom wagon” for the road races.

Severin Baer, member of the Board of Directors and management board at Planzer, who is responsible for the ‘National Transport’ and ‘Parcel Service’ divisions, stated: “The collaboration with the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich is another milestone in our cooperation with various major events in Switzerland. We are proud to be able to contribute to the success of these unique UCI World Championships with our vans, drivers and storage space.”

Nearby hub ensures short distances

As part of the collaboration, LOC Zurich will have access to space at the Planzer site in Zurich Altstetten. This hub is ideally located close to the LOC office in Zurich, the start locations and the fan zones around the lake basin and the City Circuit.

Daniel Rupf, managing director of LOC Zurich 2024, is delighted to welcome Planzer, another traditional company from the greater Zurich area, to the Zurich 2024 family. “We would like to thank Planzer and the team led by Severin Baer for the trustful discussions and the huge commitment over the past few months. With Planzer at our side, we know we are in good hands when it comes to logistics.”

About Planzer (planzer.ch)

Planzer was founded in 1936 and has been a family-owned public limited company since 1966. Today, the logistics company employs over 6500 people, including over 370 apprentices, and has a presence at 72 locations in Switzerland, Italy, Liechtenstein, Germany, France and Hong Kong. It serves business and private customers with various services and comprehensive solutions. The family-run company places particular emphasis on sustainability. For example, over 60% of consignments are transported by environmentally friendly rail.

An illustrious name joins the ever-growing family of Zurich 2024 partners: Italian bicycle manufacturer Pinarello becomes the Official Bike Partner of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships Zurich, Switzerland. Two Pinarello racing bikes are on display at the Zurich 2024 stand at the ongoing Cycle Week in Zurich: the Bolide F for time trials and the Dogma F for road races.

Pinarello is all about high performance. Pinarello bikes have helped some of cycling’s greatest riders to victory in one-day classics, grand tours such as the Tour de France, Giro d’Italia and Vuelta a España, and at UCI World Championships.

A partnership for success

As Official Bike Partner of the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships, Pinarello is striving for success together with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024. “These UCI Road Worlds are a perfect match for our activities in Switzerland,” Fausto Pinarello, president of Pinarello and son of the company founder emphasised. “Coming September, some of the favourite riders will rely on Pinarello’s unique know-how and craftsmanship. Before that, in July 2024, we will open the first Pinarello shop on Bärengasse in Zurich, not far from the racecourse.”

Daniel Rupf, the Managing Director of the Zurich 2024 Local Organising Committee, is very proud: “Pinarello is an icon of cycling and embodies values such as excellence and quality, which we also uphold as organisers.”

Bolide F and Dogma F at the Zurich 2024 stand

Year after year, the high-tech workshops in Fontane di Villorba near Treviso produce models helping riders redefine the limits of their performance.

There are two very special Pinarello bikes at the LOC Zurich 2024 stand at the ongoing Cycle Week. The Bolide F time trial bike is truly made for the battle against the clock and is being ridden for instance by two-time time trial UCI World Champion Filippo Ganna, among others. The riding position with the forearms on the aero handlebars is aerodynamically optimised and has been perfected in the wind tunnel.

The Dogma F is just as successful for road races. Seven of the last 12 Tour de France editions were won on a Dogma. The successor model Dogma F is already being used for racing, with British INEOS Grenadiers rider Tom Pidcock winning the Amstel Gold Race on it. Some of the contenders for the coveted UCI rainbow jerseys at the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships road races will also be on the starting line on this bike.

A Pinarello as the main prize

The Italian company enjoys an enormous reputation among cyclists. Riding a Pinarello bike is a dream that riders around the world cherish. For one lucky person, this dream will come true this summer. Pinarello and Zurich 2024, together with media partner SonntagsZeitung, will be giving away a Pinarello bike in July in a raffle.

About Pinarello (pinarello.com)

Pinarello was founded in 1952 by Giovanni Pinarello, the father of the current President Fausto Pinarello. As a rider, Giovanni Pinarello was known for winning the Maglia Nera (the black jersey to “distinguish” the last rider in the ranking) at the Giro d’Italia. But as a frame-builder his name became synonymous with the Maglia Rosa and the Maillot Jaune, with cycling’s greatest champions, and for victory. Pinarello embodies the community of cyclists, everything they do is motivated by a deep love for the sport and for two wheeled mobility. The company is based in northern Italy.

For the first time in the history of cycling, the UCI World Championships for road and para-cycling road are combined into one event, with both para-cyclists and non-para-cyclists sharing the same routes and crossing the same finish line. This opens up an additional sporting and social dimension and makes these UCI Worlds an exceptional event.

Access to all areas and buildings is barrier-free and also designed for people with disabilities. In so-called “hosted areas”, seats can be arranged for them and their companions according to their needs using a simple modular system with seating blocks.

Action on Sechseläutenplatz every day

In addition to the finishes, fans can look forward to a varied programme, which will be presented in mid-June. The 66 para-cycling and non-para-cycling UCI World Champions will be honoured on the big stage with gold medals and rainbow jerseys. A special concert, which will also feature sign language interpreters, will kick off the event on 21 September. Further concerts, which will similarly focus on Swiss musicians, including the official ambassador “Ritschi”, singer of the Swiss band “Plüsch”, as well as broadcasts on the big screen, exciting talks and other entertainment elements will provide variety.

“Legends Race”: Against the clock – and against Fabian Cancellara

Registrations for the “Charity Ride”, the “Legends Race” and the “City Race” are now also possible exclusively via the Ticketmaster portal. Former time trial UCI World Champion and Olympic Champion Fabian Cancellara will also be taking part in the Legends Race.

An entry fee must be paid for participation. This fee will include the right to participate, a start number and, if applicable, timekeeping, memberships with partner organisations – which will be communicated in the coming days -, and results. All participants will also receive a commemorative gift.

“Our promise from the outset was that the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships and the races would come to the people,” emphasises Daniel Rupf, the managing director of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024. “We are keeping this promise with our fan zone on Sechseläutenplatz, but also along the fantastic routes in and around Zurich, where admission is of course free. We are also delighted to be able to give amateur and hobby cyclists the opportunity to take part in three public races on the official UCI World Championship routes.”

Digital campaign with ambassadors accompanies the sales launch

The Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024 is also launching the first digital campaign with its six ambassadors. The high-calibre sextet of Fabian Cancellara, Fabian Recher, Flurina Rigling, Marlen Reusser, Stefan Küng and Ritschi will draw the attention of the public and cycling fans to the global cycling festival next September on the news websites of media partner Tamedia as well as at Zurich main railway station and at Zurich Airport, Bern, Basel and Lucerne railway stations.
