Together We Protect: ABUS Switzerland becomes Official Supplier

Secure and free bike parking and exclusive bike helmets for the volunteers: ABUS Switzerland will be providing these services as an Official Supplier at the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships in Zurich, Switzerland, to ensure safety on and around the bike. The company, which is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, will also be showcasing its extensive expertise with an Expo Mobile at the Velo Expo in the Bürkliplatz fan zone.

Thanks to its diverse product range, ABUS is one of the world’s leading companies in the areas of home security, mobile security and property security. Cycling helmets and secure bike parking are also key elements of the cooperation with ABUS Switzerland as part of the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships next September.

Exclusive gift for the volunteers

As “Official Helmet Supplier”, ABUS, together with the Local Organising Committee (LOC) Zurich 2024, will thank the event’s volunteers for their valuable work. As an exclusive gift, the approximately 1,500 volunteers will receive a black bike helmet with a World Championships design. And not just any helmet: the basis is the “Stormchaser” model, which is also worn by the reigning UCI Road World Champion Mathieu van der Poel (Netherlands). This special World Championships version will not be available anywhere else and is intended exclusively for the volunteers as a souvenir and thank you for their commitment to the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships.

Secured bike parks “powered by ABUS”

ABUS will also support one of the declared sustainability goals of the event, i.e. to make travelling to the event as car-free as possible. At three locations in the central fan zones Münsterhof, Limmatquai and General-Guisan-Quai, the company will offer visitors free and supervised bike parking “powered by ABUS”.

“ABUS is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2024 – it’s fantastic that in our centenary year the UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships are taking place in Zurich and that we will be able to contribute our ideas to the event planning in such a personalised way in advance,” said Christian Maag, Managing Director of ABUS Switzerland. “We are very much looking forward to this cooperation, which underlines our great commitment to cycling.”

For Ina Bauspiess, Head of Marketing & Sponsorship at LOC Zurich 2024, the cooperation with ABUS is a prime example of modern partnerships that have long since gone far beyond traditional sponsorship. “Tailor-made implementations characterise our plans with ABUS for the next six months – the three bike parks at the event and the unique volunteer gift are the best proof of this. We would like to thank ABUS for their great trust.”

Appearance at the Velo-Expo

ABUS will be present with a truck at the Bürkliplatz fan zone, the Velo-Expo, during the 2024 UCI Road and Para-cycling Road World Championships, where it will showcase its extensive expertise. With high-quality U-locks, chain locks and folding locks as well as armoured cable locks, spiral cable locks and cable locks, ABUS covers the full range of bicycle security products. In the production of bicycle helmets, experience from professional sport is incorporated into the development, such as that of Fabian Cancellara, ambassador for ABUS and Zurich 2024. As part of a promotion at its stand in the fan zone, ABUS will also be offering a different and attractive World Championships helmet for all visitors to purchase.
